We are committed to making Prayers and Plans a wholly sustainable brand every day and are constantly working to ensure that all areas of our business are more sustainable. We understand that this is a process and even though we are not there yet, we are proud of the progress we have made. We won’t stop working on taking better care of our planet and people.
We believe an honest production process is one of the ways to reduce the harm fashion production has on the environment. Our timeless pieces are handcrafted locally at our studio in Nigeria with minimal waste and water consumption.
What we are doing
Supporting Sustainable Communities
At the core of our brand, is women empowerment. We support initiatives that educate and empower women to create more sustainable communities. Solar Sister is a Prayers and Plans partner. 5% of every purchase made goes towards their continued efforts in training and supporting women to deliver clean energy in rural African communities.
Handcrafted by Artisan Tailors
Our products are handcrafted by Artisan Tailors at our studio in Nigeria using an ethical hand sewn process. We make sustainable small batch productions of all items to reduce overproduction and most orders are made-to-order. We are determined to have “Zero Waste” so we consider how carefully are pieces are created to minimise waste from the design stage, and we repurpose our “scrap” fabrics into loungewear accessories.
Slowing down fast fashion
Water is the foundation of life and with so much of it being used on fast fashion we want slow things down. Our clothes are not made in factories, they are handcrafted at our studio in Nigeria.
We also want our customers to be more involved in our journey to be completely sustainable, we provide information on how to best take care of their garments for reduced water waste.
Recycled packaging
We’re excited to announce that all orders now come in our brand new sustainable packaging. Our boxes are printed using water based inks and made from FSC Certified and 100% recyclable materials. Our bespoke tissue paper is also made from 100% biodegradable tissue paper. Our swing tags are also made from 100% recycled materials.
