The Prayers & Plans Woman: Featuring Nonye Udeogu

What we wear can say a lot before we even start a conversation. For Nonye, fashion has always been a language, a way of expressing who she is and how she wants to show up in the world. But beneath the style, the businesses and the woman you see online is someone who is intentional about what she allows into her life and what she gives her energy to.
Meet Nonye Udeogu, or as you may know her on social media, thisthingcalledfashionn. Nonye is a creative, influencer, businesswoman and the founder of Kind Heart creative agency and WhatNayLikes. WNL is a curated retail store where she brings together brands she discovers and genuinely loves, and introduces them to people who will love them too.
Her world moves between fashion, creativity and business, but faith remains at the core of her identity and the foundation she returns to as she continues to grow into the woman she is becoming.
We sat down with Nonye to talk about the routines that ground her, her relationship with fashion and personal style, building confidence, the businesses she is building, and the prayers and plans she is carrying into this season of her life.

You've built not one but two businesses, a creative agency and a retail store. What does your morning look like before the world needs anything from you?
"My mornings look different depending on the season of life I’m in. But in this season, I wake up worshipping God. I usually sleep with rain sounds or a soft melody playing, and once I'm up, I switch to gospel music. I spend time studying my Bible, praying, and checking my calendar for the day. Of course, there are some mornings when I wake up and dive straight into work, but even then, I always find my way back to God. I've realised that when I don't start my day worshipping or soaking in His love for me, something feels missing. No matter how busy life gets, that time with Him helps me feel centred."

Fashion is clearly more than clothes for you. It's a language. How do you describe your personal style, and has it always been this intentional?
“I love that you describe fashion as a language because it truly is. People often make assumptions based on how you present yourself, and what you wear can communicate so much before you ever say a word. Fashion can also be a beautiful conversation starter. My personal style changes depending on my mood, but one thing remains consistent: I love looking chic, polished, and stylish. As for intentionality, I've always been stylish, but I became much more intentional about it about three years ago. I made a promise to myself that I would never leave my house without feeling good, looking good, and smelling good. That decision changed the way I approached style. It became less about clothes and more about how I wanted to show up in the world.”

You move between the creative world and the business world constantly. How do you protect your energy so that neither one drains the other? Where do you go when you need to come back to yourself and refill?
"I've learned to block out the noise and be very mindful of what gets access to me. There will always be demands, opinions, and expectations competing for your attention, but not everything deserves your energy. When I need to refill, I step away and return to God's love for me. That's where I find rest, clarity, and perspective. It's easy to become consumed by work, but I've found that the more grounded I am in whom God says I am, the easier it becomes to navigate everything else."

You carry yourself like a woman who knows exactly who she is. Was she always there, or did you have to build her?
“I definitely had to build her. She was built brick by brick, lesson by lesson, and season by season. Confidence didn't arrive overnight. It came through growth, self-awareness, healing, and gaining clarity about who I am and what I stand for. I'm still becoming, but every version of me has contributed to the woman I am today.”

What are your prayers and plans for this season?
"My prayer and plan for this season, and every season, is to remain grounded in God's love for me. I want to remember constantly that I am deeply loved, abundantly blessed, and highly favoured. I want to walk in that truth daily, not just believe it intellectually, but live from it confidently. Everything else I desire flows from that place."
Nonye’s journey is a reminder that there is no finished version of the woman you are becoming. We hope her story leaves you with the courage to trust your own journey, be intentional about what you allow into your life, and keep choosing what feels true to you.
